Saalex Solutions is proud to announce the award of a contract to provide advisory and assistance services for F-15 Weapon System Supply Chain Management to the 330th Aircraft Sustainment Squadron at Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. Work under this contract includes supply system data support and integration and analytical support to improve supply chain problem identification and reduce problem resolution response times as well as improvement of forecasting techniques for the F-15 Systems Program Office.

Saalex is the prime contractor on this base plus four option year contract with ICF International as a subcontractor.

SAALEX SOLUTIONS, INC. WINS PRIME CONRACT TO DESIGN, PRODUCE TESTING SYSTEM FOR ARMY’S NEW UNATTENDED GROUND SENSOR

Oxnard, California – In 2005 Saalex Solutions, Inc. announced that it has won an important prime contract to design and produce a Multi-Spectral Ground Truth Monitoring System to be used in testing a new Unattended Ground Sensor (UGS) at the U.S. Army Operational Test Command at Fort Huachuca, Arizona.

Saalex designed, built, and produced five of the monitoring systems over a 27-month life of the contract. The units were constructed in the Test and Evaluation lab at Saalex’s Oxnard facility. A report of the study phase was completed in early 2006 and the finished prototype was completed in August 2008.  We anticipate a first article product to be delivered in 2009.

Early forms of UGS were available as early as the Viet Nam era, once the information came in, only the person receiving them at a console knew what was happening.  Now, you can send the information to a satellite and relay it to a truck driving through the area. You can pull data from different sources to give soldiers a better understanding of what’s happening on the battlefield.

The UGS is part of the architecture of linked and networked systems that are a key component of the Army’s “Future Combat Systems Network.”  The contract is described as “a significant entry into a major program.”

The armed forces are in the process of transitioning their whole m.o. to fit what the world will be like for the next several decades.  The Army has transitioned itself away from brute force – sending in 70-ton tanks to slug their way in against an enemy. Instead, they’ve decided to use technology, swiftness and information technology to see the enemy first, react first and defeat him with minimum U.S. casualties.

SAALEX SOLUTIONS, INC. SUPPORTS BOEING IN WORLDWIDE SATELLITE SYSTEMS CONTRACT WORK FOR ARMY

Oxnard, California – Saalex Solutions, Inc. and Boeing have been selected by the Army  to provide support for the development of satellite terminals being developed as part of the Worldwide Satellite Systems (WWSS) initiative.

The Boeing and Saalex team was selected by the U.S. Army as one of six primary contractors to provide satellite communications systems  Saalex is very excited to be on the Boeing led team.

Saalex provides services to support the testing, evaluation and logistics of the terminals.  In addition Saalex supplies various components and equipment, and support the development of a maintenance and change-out schedule. The WWSS ID/IQ contract is important to Saalex because it expands our role with the Army and Boeing.

Saalex began work on the project in Saalex’s El Segundo, Calif., offices during the fourth quarter of 2005.

The Army contract calls for the contracted companies to develop the following six types of terminals for WSS satellites operating on a variety of military and commercial satellite bands:

• Flyaway VSATS
• Military-certified satellite terminals
• Prime mover/trailer-mounted satellite terminals

Since 9/11, much of the nation’s diminished sense of safety led government officials to toughen homeland security using new measures of policy, procedure, and technology. As for the latter, Saalex Solutions, Inc., in partnership with the U.S. Army, has just completed the acceptance testing of a prototype system known as the Multi-Spectral Ground Truth Monitoring System or MSGTMS.

Unlike other remote or unattended ground sensors (UGS or “Ugh”), the MSGTMS is not itself a long-standing system, but a system’s analyzer for measuring the performance and reliability of other UGS devices. As such, the MSGTMS must surpass the minimum performance standards of other systems and provide a record of data to be collected during side-by-side test operations.

How does it work? In many respects, the MSGTMS behaves and performs like a full-time remote sensor device. It has all the acoustic and seismic measuring and recording instruments needed to qualify as an UGS, but is intended for short-term deployment. The hardware consists of eight sensor assemblies, one mounted camera with visible light and infrared (IR) capabilities, a weather station, and two computers installed with the necessary software for viewing data. For easy deploy-ability, a government furnished vehicle houses the two computers, while the sensor assemblies are each provided with a travel case.

The purpose of the UGS or remote sensor is to detect approaching personnel, vehicles, and weapon threats, and to alert the designated authority. It is not just a military concept. “Permanent acoustic and seismic detections are also appropriate for protecting remote installations, such as cell phone or radio towers, weather stations, fire look-outs and radars,” says Michael Ramey, Saalex/MSGTMS lead project engineer.

Saalex developers believe that the MSGTMS’s performance has the comparability to qualify other UGS systems, and the potential to stay upgraded with technology. As motion detectors and surveillance systems become more acute and reliable, the MSGTMS will need to stay on top of these developments and integrate the technology as it is improved and becomes more readily available

When asked to summarize the project, its program manager, Jeff Angcanan, had this to say: “The performance of the MSGTMS has met and exceeded the customer’s expectations. I give credit to the MSGTMS team for making this exceptional achievement happen.” The system acquires and displays the necessary target data, it is easy to use and quick to deploy, and it is largely composed of commercial-off-the-shelf products, which are easy to replace and maintain.

China Lake, Calfornia – Saalex Solutions is pleased to announce the competitive award of a $93,285,630 three year base period contract to provide Range Support Services for the Naval Air Warfare Center Land and Sea Ranges at China Lake and Point Mugu, California. Exercise of two additional option years will bring the total five year value of this contract to over $162,000,000.

Under this contract, Saalex will deliver Range Operational and Engineering support for critical Naval Air Systems Command research, development, test and evaluation, and training projects, including live firing events, at all Land and Sea Ranges at China Lake, Point Mugu and the outlying Channel Islands.
