ITAR Certified
As a defense services provider, Saalex is International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) certified and abides by the ITAR as it applies to its United States Munitions List (USML) linked goods or services. Saalex renews its registration every year.
What is a defense service?
22 CFR §120.9 defines a Defense Service as furnishing of assistance including training, to foreign persons in the U.S. or abroad. A defense service encompasses the design, development, engineering, manufacture, production, assembly, testing, repair, maintenance, modification, operation, demilitarization, destruction, processing or use of defense articles. Additionally includes military training of foreign units and forces which may involve public domain data or commercial hardware.
DCMA Approved Purchasing System
Saalex received Defense Contractor Management Agency (DCMA) approval for its purchasing system as of August 2023. Saalex’s purchasing system is approved in accordance with DFARS 252.244-7001.

DCAA Approved Accounting System
Saalex has a DCAA-approved Accounting System in accordance to DFARS 252.242-7006, which defines a “Contractor’s system or systems for accounting methods, procedures, and controls established to gather, record, classify, analyze, summarize, interpret, and present accurate and timely financial data for reporting in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and management decisions.” This may include subsystems for specific areas such as billing and labor.
NIST Compliant
Saalex is National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800-171 compliant since December 2017.
The Department of Defense (DoD) mandates that all contractors and subcontractors that process, store or transmit Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) must meet minimum security standards as of December 31, 2017 to continue their DoD contracts. NIST 800-171 provides the basis and guidance for non-federal agencies to protect controlled unclassified information residing in or transmitting through their information systems.
