Camarillo, California — Saalex Solutions, Inc. is an integral part of the team that will perform maintenance, operations, and engineering services for NASA’s international Deep Space Network (DSN). The contract, awarded by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and primed by Exelis Inc., has a base period of performance of five years, with incentive provisions that can extend the contract up to 10 years for a total value of $435 million.
The DSN team work includes supporting the international network of communications complexes that supports interplanetary robotic spacecraft missions and radio and radar astronomy observations for the exploration of the solar system and the universe. The DSN program also supports Earth-orbiting missions and key space exploration missions such as Voyager 1 and 2, Mars Exploration Rovers Project and Curiosity, and the Cassini Saturn mission.
Saalex President and CEO, Travis Mack, is excited about the great news. “We are thrilled and honored to be a part of the Exelis team. We look forward to working with Exelis as a small business contractor and supporting the DSN effort.” This contract is a key win for Saalex as it provides an opportunity for further involvement in the NASA community and a deeper relationship with Exelis.
