Camarillo, CA and Rockledge, FL (June 10, 2022) – Saalex’s Expendable Launch Vehicle Integrated Support 3 (ELVIS 3) team will support the TROPICS (Time-Resolved Observations of Precipitation structure and storm Intensity with a Constellation of Smallsats) mission launch. The TROPICS mission consists of six CubeSats and will increase the scientific community’s understanding of storm processes. The CubeSats will provide rapid-refresh microwave measurements that can be used to determine temperature, pressure, and humidity inside hurricanes and tropical storms they form and evolve.
The commercial small satellite launch vehicle developed by Astra is scheduled to lift off Sunday, June 12, 2022 from Space Launch Complex 46, Cape Canaveral, FL and is the first of three TROPICS launches.
“I am extremely proud of the amazing work our ELVIS 3 team is doing to support these missions that help us to better understand environmental conditions here on Earth,” said Saalex President, Robert Bezduch.
