Saalex to Support Launch of NOAA’s GOES-U Satellite
Mission is Critical for Advanced Weather Observation and Environmental Monitoring
Camarillo, CA and Rockledge, FL (December 18, 2023) – Saalex Corporation’s Expendable Launch Vehicle Integration Services (ELVIS) 3 team is set to provide essential support services for the upcoming launch of NOAA’s GOES-U satellite, scheduled to launch aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket on April 30, 2024 from Kennedy Space Center’s Pad 39A in Florida.
As the fourth and final satellite in NOAA’s GOES-R series, GOES-U will provide continuous and improved weather forecasting, tracking of storms, and monitoring of environmental hazards like wildfires, volcanic ash, and atmospheric smoke and dust once in orbit. The advanced instrumentation on GOES-U includes the Compact Coronagraph (CCOR) instrument which will image solar activity to better detect solar storms that can impact technology systems, power grids and satellites in space.
For the GOES-U launch, Saalex’s ELVIS 3 team will lend their expertise in areas like payload integration, launch vehicle coordination, and pre-launch verification to help ensure mission success.
“Supporting NASA on the GOES-U launch is a significant milestone, and our ELVIS 3 team is excited to contribute our specialized expertise,” said Robert Bezduch, President, Saalex Corporation. “Assisting with the launch of leading-edge satellites like GOES-U reflects our ongoing dedication to space exploration.”
Saalex has a strong track record of contributing its technical capabilities and launch services experience to assist with vital NASA missions. Supporting the GOES-U launch continues Saalex’s commitment to scientific discovery.
